Privacy

I run Google Analytics on this website, its status page, and my Smugmug. Traffic for this site may be passed through Cloudflare which collects some data. Smugmug also has its own analytics. If you're not comfortable about it, block the service(s).

Copyright

I reserve all copyright to all of my works except if one or more of conditions below are met, in decending order of precedence:

• If a work is created as part of official duty for a US federal government agency, it is public domain by law. I will try to indicate if this applies. Some of my work may be created as volunteer work for DOI agencies. Just because a photograph is taken on DOI land doesn't mean I was on official duty.
• If a work is uploaded to Wikimedia Commons or another Wikimedia Project, the terms posted there, usually Creative Commons, applies. Check my Commons uploads: user:Hsingtism
• If a work is attached with a creative commons license, such as one found in a caption, the CC license takes precedence.
• Some of my code may have a license attached to it, follow that. If no license if found, I reserve all rights. See my note below on computer code.

All other work, unless exempt by a contract or law is owned solely by me under US Copyright. The copyright last until 70 years after my death.

Republic of China (Taiwan) copyright may also apply for works published there.

When using my work, whether under fair use or creative commons, I am kindly asking for the following attribution:

• Author/creator name (Hsing Lo)
• A link to this website (hsing.org) or a site owned by me, if it exists.
• Reference, like a link, to a work's original place of publication.
• Title and short description of work that provides enough context to what is being depicted or represented
• How the work has been modified

Public domain works do not require attribution but I'd appreciate it if you still credited me.

Note that Computer code is treated as literary works under US copyright laws, so only the work, and not the ideas are eligible for copyright. Small snippets of code are basically transcription of facts or ideas, so they're most likely ineligible for copyright. Just use my things in good faith and there shouldn't be a problem.
